Hello fellow Mid Lifer. You no doubt have set and (hopefully) achieved many goals during your life so far.
Regardless of age, you have the ability to aim higher and raise your bar, OR simply set it at whatever level makes you happy. And this is the key to today’s posting for You ….. ‘whatever level makes You happy‘.
Doing this keeps the blood pumping through your veins and the excitement that being Happy gives you … its a legal hit, right?!
I challenge you to keep that going.
To get you into this “state”, if you’re not already there, I’m suggesting that you set specific “Happy” Goals? These goals will be distinctive from your other goals, dreams, objectives. Nothing too complicated (that’s for others to concern themselves with), just a couple of simple, feel good goals.
In fact these goals can be a realisation and extension of some, or perhaps many, of your previous goal triumphs. These I call ‘personal reward goals’. Being Happy is a personal reward, don’t you think? Why not consider something like these two?
Have an ongoing Happiness Goal … one that is flexible, adaptable, collectable, unmistakeable, unmissable.
Today, certain things will make you happy … Sunshiny day, the train arrived on time, your favourite team won, You kicked a Big goal, you made a massive sale and so on. What if you can translate that to an ongoing objective? Because some days those things that made you happy “today”, won’t be there. You need a replacement. You have to have your ‘happy hit’.
This sounds Huge, I guess you’re thinking. How can I be happy every day? … You can have something to be happy about every day though. Something to offset the times when the crap comes home to roost … and it will.
Your mission is this, if you choose to accept it (remember that line from years ago?) ….. draw on your years of happy results, happy achievements and map out your ‘Happy Plan/Goal’. If you haven’t had any (I’m sorry) then plan it out as you Imagine it will be. Translate the ‘feeling’ that you had then, into a blueprint for future (starting tomorrow) happy times.
Now, what has made you happy with past successes may change (and probably will) in the future. So part of this process will be integrating your happiness barometer into and in conjunction with, your future goals, dreams and vision for your life.
Now more than ever, it’s the time to be Free. Free of the hassles, comparisons, struggles to establish yourself, the guilt, the restrictions, the rules. If you have obstacles, distractions or anything that is anchoring you in the land of doubt … then wouldn’t it be great to be Free of all of this?
Maybe this sounds all too good to be true? Maybe not. Let’s (again) be practical here for a bit. I am not suggesting that your Midlife will suddenly become some type of woo woo place of enlightenment. However, if you remember my words from earlier ‘whatever level makes You happy’ … then that’s what I am aiming at for You. You decide what achievements/goals/dreams … will make you happy. And then you set a goal/action plan which will help you on the path to be free (and Happy).
My only condition: That you do something about it.
