Listen. Question. Solve. Create.

Hi there. This post is not about me, it is about You.

However, before I get into that, I would like to give You a little background.

The four word Heading of this post describes my current Life’s “work” in a nutshell.

I try to cut through most things and this morning I was opening my thought channels to simplification.

These four words just yelled at me as I quickly wrote them down ..  “Listen. Question. Solve. Create.”

They are words that I have used regularly however when I lined them up it just made so much more sense.

My “work” tag is  Motivator. Listener. Life Coach .. and that is true, on the surface.

When I drill down a little, really the essence  of what I do is to ..  Listen. Question. Solve. Create.

I want to use this, to show you how these four words can be used to your advantage.Listen. Question. Blog Post

Listen ..

To yourself. Sounds simple eh? But how often do you do it?

Your inner voice is sometimes vocal, sometimes quiet.

However whether it be shouting or whispering, it always has something to say.

Listen and be open to learning.

Listen to others who inspire and/or motivate you. Don’t just see or hear the words, absorb these by listening with intent.

I listen intently to my clients for it’s the only way to know how to help them best.

Do this yourself and you will be helping yourself.

Question ..

Everything that you are not certain about. And question everything that you want to know more about.

You will rarely get all the answers with just one question, so be prepared to ask a few. Questions bring answers [and further questions].

The answers rarely come to you of their own accord. Make it a fun game, if you like.

When you relax, the questions I have found, tend to come more easily … and so do then, the answers.

Question out aloud … or in silence.  [Ask for the answers to come to you]

Solve ..

Any obstacles, don’t procrastinate. You have asked questions. Now, how can “the answers” be used to best effect?

Don’t sit on them. Use them. The more obstacles/ problems/issues that are solved, clears the way for you to move forward.

Most clients want their problems solved and you are probably no different. So when you have the answer that you are looking for, use it for best effect.

And then move on.

Create ..

A better path if the one you are on is too treacherous or you have been stuck on a path to nowhere.

The obstacles are beaten, [listen, question, solve] the path is clear. You are now free to choose the path/direction that will serve you best.

Free from distractions, unburdened from the obstacles that have held you back, allows your creativity to come to the fore. [If it’s still stuck Listen and question further].

I believe that we often undervalue our personal creativity. I know that I have. When you are free from the stuff that has been holding you back [obstacles, problems, issues, distractions], you are then free to create.

Go do it!

Does this make sense to you? Please share your thoughts below.

    Hi David,

This is a very powerful 4 steps process and you explained what we can do beautifully.

To add to the point about ‘Question’, I have found improvisation training to really help me come up with spontaneous answers. As you wrote in your post, we have so much creativity stored. However, we rarely allow it to come out. By just allowing ideas to flow out, the solutions will then emerge as well.

    Thank you.

      Hi Hiten,
Thankyou and thankyou for the point about Questions/Solutions. When we get into a certain flow … ideas, thoughts, solutions seem to come easily.

Great post, David! These four points make sense. I always believe in simplification. In fact, I believe that life is simple, but we make it complex. It’s interesting how only few words can describe volumes. Words and thoughts are so powerful – they contain unlimited potential and power in them.

I believe we’re happy if we listen and observe, think and question, solve and implement, create and use it for good. 🙂

      Thankyou Harleena,
This makes sense to me as well. We all have the power. When we access this, all is good. I appreciate you being here and for your contribution.

I think the hardest thing to do is listen to ourselves. We have so many other voices vying for attention in our heads! Great advice, David. Love your design here.

      Hi Debra,
Great to see you here. Yes, listening to the competing voices can be quite a task …and that can be a separate posting for the future … however, listen we must, especially to ‘the good stuff’

Dear David. It’s really good to read your blog. And I agree with your. The freedom to create happens only when you put yourself into the essential habit of questioning.. Thoughtful read.
