========================================================================

Hi there fellow Life Lover.

Being creative is not just for the realms of the best selling Author or the artist who has his/her paintings hanging in the foremost Art galleries of the world. Or any other of the noble ‘artistic pursuits’.

No, You are the Artist of your life and are able to create whatever you wish … and display your creations wherever you wish.

Whether you are starting from scratch[blank canvas] or part way through your artistic foray in life, creating what you want for work or play … is in your hands.

Can you learn from these four[4] “lessons” so that you can have a life full of Creativity!?

Imagine … the dullness [without creativity]. Aaarrgh!….. Flip it/Reframe. Now imagine the brighter side of Life. There’s a difference, isn’t there? You see people leading “bright” lives and hopefully you are as well. However if it’s the same old, same old then your Imagination needs to breath life again. Yes, Again.

You’ve done this before. Imagined. Imagined being in a better place. Imagined having this, having that .. doing this, doing that. Imagine again my friend.

If the shine has been taken off your life, even if for just a short time, imagining a brighter result will get the creative juices flowing [again]. And if you need help with this, then that’s fine as well. The important thing is to get you to the ‘bright side’. Imagination in the right hands [yours], is power for good.Creativity

Picture the end result … this will guide the creation process. Begin with the end in mind . Keep it clear, vivid, close enough to touch. When you have your aimpoint clearly etched in your mind, the steps toward this have a spring to them. Each step brings you closer. Feel the excitement grow, Feel the creation begin to form and leap to life. You must be able to picture your end result otherwise your efforts will begin to fade.

Creativity is not a spits and spurts type of thing … though you will have your ‘off’ days. You may have bursts of creativity and then flat spots [me, I’m still working on this] .. try to be consistent with your ‘creative flow’. Put aside an amount of time most days, to focus solely on creative thinking, creative pursuits. Add to your canvas, fill in some blank spots on your ”picture”. Bit by bit, the picture will come together. Consistency.

There is no deadline … unless you want one. All great work takes time. The appropriate time. Like a maturing wine or cheese, waiting to be savoured at the  right time. Keep stepping, keep moving in your chosen direction. Enjoy the victories along the way and look forward to your complete picture … at a time of your choosing.

Maybe, just maybe you will begin to create again. A new work of Art? I think to enjoy a full life, there is no finish line. You and I simply continue to create … something worthwhile.

Who’s up for creating your best ….. ?

    Hi David,
    Wonderful advice, indeed!
I loved the way you explained the creative process. As you explained, there will be off days. One thing I would like to add is the good feelings we get when we’re being creative. It can be useful to remember these feelings to get over the off days.

    Thank you.

    Hi David,

Creativity is soothing to the mind and the soul. For me free writing just gets my mind going and the ideas churning. I like your point about there being no deadline, as it is all about the journey.

      Hi Cathy,
I enjoy a dabble with the ‘writing arts’ myself .. often it has my mind bringing forth new words, new descrips. Thanks for being here.

Consistency and imagination are so vital to the process. I’ve found both trusting in perfect timing and having an end goal is important too. Otherwise, as artists/creators, we can overwork and over think things. In that case, a timeline helps me, personally. Thanks, David!

Nice post David. For me creativity is part of the human condition. Without it we are unfulfilled. And we can find creativity in everything we do whether that’s being an accountant, washing the car, being a hair stylist, a journalist or anything else. As you say we are here to create a life – our life. And we can use whatever colours we want, and design it in any way we want. 🙂

      Absolutely Stuart,
No victims .. we have choice to create .. as you say, in whatever colours we want .. no matter who you are.

I’m the impatient type so I have problems with that third one sometimes. However, if I really want what I have imagined, I will go back to it. Of course, this means I’m doing the spits and spurts thing. Mind you this doesn’t happen with all that I imagine, but still, it does happen.

    Hi David,
I endorse your opinion on creativity. And at the same time i also feel that creativity is also an index of how profoundly we utilise our thinking process.
Our thought is automatically creative all the time. And i believe that
the only one thing that we have total control over is our thought. If you try, that is.Otherwise your thinking process is a runaway freight train that drags you along its own route of whims.
Progress Is Shaped By Mental Prowess.
A vast majority of thinkers have come along and asked us all to pay attention to our thinking ,whether it was the Kindly Buddha or Christ ,or the huge crowd of New Agers. Thought is indeed nuclear in it’s impact on life, and on the world.Yet we start to pay attention to it’s enormous power only when we face crisis,or not at all, even then.
    Yet thought is supremely creative.
    Thanks
    Mona
