Express Yourself – By being ‘Big’ & having no regrets

Hi.

A recent conversation has prompted me to take a further look at my “5 Year Plan“and shedding some more light on that post which opened a few eyes nearly 3 months ago.

And seeing as this Year will be “Big” in many different ways, I thought I would incorporate both into a fresh, new posting.

And I’m  going an extra yard and create a “moniker” for this year’s ‘Big‘ …

Boundless

Inspirational

Goals

How is that for Big? … Impressive?

In case you are worried that “Big” is beyond your norm, it isn’t. “Big” doesn’t have to be huge, earth shaking type of Big. “Big” can be a baby step taken for the very first time. It can be a thought that sets off a chain reaction of fresh, exciting, life changing thoughts.  Now that’s BIG!

Big does not have to be Epic … though it may well feel that way when the steps add up and the fresh thoughts flow!

And being “Big” is also having a plan for your future. It might not be rigid with every little detail mapped out, it may be a direction, a sense of where you want to be, how you want to feel … in 5 years from now. More details on The 5 Year Plan can be read here.

“Begin with the end in mind” … Stephen Covey … that is thinking ‘Big’ … Beginning to think of your end goal, feeling, direction is the start of something Big[ger].

The real point that I want to make here is this …  Don’t spend the next 5 years having no idea where you are likely to finish up … that’s small.

Think. Believe. Act.

It’s your life to live. Live it in the ‘Big’ lane not the tow away zone.

Expressing Yourself is a favourite saying of mine. True self expression is being true to You. The world wants people and needs people to be self expressive … in a caring, authentic way. Living life in your own shadow is playing small. Stepping out into your own light is freeing, self expressive and Big.

Your Life is your Art.

Create your best Art by expressing your true self. The person who you are meant to be. Art6

That person may yet  be discovered. Go to your intuitive feel. Your inner whisper … and it may be just a whisper for now. Spend more time on “feeling & listening” to your whisper and the volume will grow.

At the end of the day, you and I have a “feel” for what our true lives should be. Many will die with regret.

Avoid that by Expressing Yourself. Start the ‘movement’. Feel it. Learn to like and embrace it.

Be energised by it! … You only live once.

And speaking of Energy, here’s a treat.

    David,

“Boundless Inspirational Goals.” I love it! It just gets you thinking big and great and just screams “I can do anything if I believe in myself.” Something I heard not too long ago was along the lines of, “If you don’t set large goals for yourself, you’ll never accomplish them.” I agree. If you don’t believe in your ability to do great things, it will be hard to accomplish them.

I wish you the best with your program! Take care!

Yes, being true to yourself is so important. It’s so easy to get pulled in the wrong direction at times. I love your “Big goal” thoughts. Why NOT go for it? No regrets just do it. I think sometimes we ask for way less than we can actually achieve. Raise that bar! It can seem scary, I know, because then you feel like you have more to lose. But man, soooo much more to gain 😉 Thanks for the inspiration!

“Big” is a great word, and one to keep you moving forward reaching your dreams, David! I love the Stephen Covey quote. It is so important to keep that in mind. That kind of thinking helps me stay focused. Thanks for the inspiration!

    David-
Thanks for these New Year thoughts. I love your energy. NOW – what if I told you that I don’t have a ‘5 year plan’ and I don’t know the end place where I want to be? I know this philosophy goes against the grain of conventional wisdom but I have learned that for me – to just work at staying present – and unpeel the layers of my ‘false self’ to get to the ‘real me’ is a lifetime of work. What I do seems less consequential than how I do it. As far as I’m concerned, I could be sweeping floors for a living and contributing as much to the world as someone who society deems as successful because they have effected what looks like big changes in our world. As always, thanks for your thoughts. Fran

      Thank You Fran,
I get where you are coming from … and that’s cool.
My real point to the ‘5 year Plan’ is … don’t waste your next 5 years. Be mindful of your time and of your life, don’t come to me in 5 years & tell me that you wasted them. Whatever you ‘plan’ for your day, week, month & so on is up to you, just make it count.

Why NOT aim for big? Everyone’s big is different for sure. My HUGE might be your little, but if I’m not stretching and learning and growing, then what the heck am I doing?

I’ve got this big hairy audacious goal I’m working on. I’ve kind of known it for a while, but it just sat there and I dismissed it, thinking that I couldn’t POSSIBLY be one to do that. When I realized that goal was speaking to ME, it all clicked into place and now I know what my big is. I’m working with that end in mind (actually, a couple of them) and boy, is it fun!
