Be your own Star & discover your Starpower

Have you heard the term “Starpower” before?  I’m pretty sure that you have.

It’s that thing  that makes people stand up, standout and shine.

The more that people are prepared to use their Starpower …  the more they stand up, standout and shine.

Now you may be thinking, who are these people?

Are they Movie Actors? Are they Pop stars? Are they famous Entrepreneurs?

Yes and No. Yes they are but No …

Today, I’m talking about You.

You may not see yourself as a headline act but you can be, in your own way.

Authentic Starpower is what it’s all about  and it’s what you have.

This is about being Real. This is about being You and showcasing your talents to the max.

This is also about discovering what your Starpower really is and then using it. Your Star Power

Is it your smile? Is it your attention to detail? Is it your passion? Your way with words, maybe?

your focus? your influencing power? your leadership? your creativity? your positivity? your thinking? your outside the box type thinking? your friendliness? your magnetism? your attitude? or any other number of attributes that you have.

Comparison  is not the game you should be playing.

This is your  Starpower that I am talking about here and you play the game by your rules.

You stand up and you shine in your own light.

When people go through Life trying  to be  someone else, then their Starpower fades.

They become a shadow, constantly chasing someone else’s star.

And I don’t want that to happen to You.

If you are not doing this already, then it’s time to stand up and believe in what you have to offer … to yourself and to others.

Polish what you have until it’s all shiny and sparkly and then go show it off.

How you show it off is up to you of course. However once you convince yourself of your starpower, then showing it off really becomes the easy part.

This will come naturally, though not without effort . True confidence in one’s own abilities needs to be developed before it finds a way to shine through. It may not be obvious, it may be difficult at first, but it cannot be denied.

Here’s 3 Starpower strategies:

Compare yourself with no one

There is only one You and you are meant to be yourself in the best possible way.

Believe in your Capabilities

You have them in spades. Some may not be obvious initially, they may need a little digging into or developing. However, find them and use them.

Be a “Show off”

Starpower is no good if it remains hidden. Find the best way to showcase your talents and share what you have.

I believe that You can do this.

What say you?  I’d love to hear, feel free to comment below.

I couldn’t agree with you more David. Believe in yourself and shine…as much as possible. Too many are hiding their light under a bushel, depriving the rest of us of much need brightness in life.

    Thanks for this my friend.

    Love Elle

    Hi David,

Ah, what a wonderful post, my friend!

I was smiling all the way as I was reading it. What a wonderful tribute by you to all of us and helping us to believe that we too have the Starpower!

I loved the point you made about “show off”. When I was younger I had so many problems with low self-confidence and self-esteem, I didn’t want anyone to see me.

As I began to work on myself, I became more confident, my self-worth began to increase and more and more, I wanted to show the world what I could offer.

    Thank you.

Wonderful inspiration here, David. We do need to let ourselves shine and be proud of who we are and what we’ve accomplished. I know I tend to shy away from your third one – Be a “Show off”. That’s my nature, but I’m working on it. 🙂

It wasn’t until I reached my 50s that I realized that I was selling myself short by comparing myself to others. All the pep talks my mom has given me through the years finally hit home with me. I realized that I have done some things in my life that no one else has done. Talk about a warm fuzzy from the inside. 🙂

I think it was Mark Twain who said, “Comparison is the death of joy.” You’re so right, David. That’s the biggest way to dim our star power! Inspiring post.
