5 Questions that will help you take the direction that is right for You

“Which direction am I heading in?” This is a question that I suggest you ask yourself regularly. Seeing that a New Year is now upon us, this question may have even greater relevance. Start with a clean slate. Check your personal compass, adjust the heading if necessary.

Or simply spend some time reflecting on where you are at right now…and where you would like to be at the end of 2013.

Either way, if you are unsure of your direction, here are five(5) questions that may help you decide or at least think about your current situation.

What do I enjoy doing?

Life is many things. One of the main ‘things’ is Enjoyment. What purpose is there in existing in an environment that lacks enjoyment? Whether that be work or play, you need to feel joy, satisfaction, pleasure in what you do. So if you are in a place at the moment where you feel ‘lack’, I would suggest you write down the things that you enjoy doing and the things in Life that give you Joy & pleasure & excitement. Once you have done that, check your list…is there any correlation with what you are doing now… or is there conflict? What are you missing out on?

Am I creating Excuses?

Why is this a step, you may ask? “Excuses” are a major hurdle to achieving anything worthwhile. Not money, not passion, not excitement, not effort…..Excuses.  Now these can be sneaky. We excuse ourselves from so much without realising. The subtle doubts, negative self talk…these will eat away at your confidence. Be aware of this and breakthrough the ‘excuse barrier’ and you will be taking a giant leap forward. A Life Coach can help you with this if your ‘excuses’ are not obvious to you.

What feels right?

Gut feeling/Intuition is real. You tend to “know” when things feel right or don’t feel right. If you are going down a path, whether by your own design or someone else is advising you to do so, and it just doesn’t feel right…then you are probably right. Our feelings are so strong and so important to us. It is wise to take notice of them & act accordingly.

Where is my focus?

There is rarely a straight line to the end result when it comes to your  dreams and goals. Things will happen to throw you off course. This where your focus comes in. Expect obstacles. Expect hurdles. However, when you have focus on the next step, the next action and the desired end result…then any obstacles will be only temporary& you will be able to get back into stride without difficulty.

What is my dream?

Do you have any? Do you have a Big Picture of how you want your Life to be in 12 months, 2 years, 5, 10, 20? A dream or dreams gives us hope. They also give us a direction to aim at. Following your dreams is purposeful. It is exciting. Granted, the timing may not always seem right…then again, when is the timing right? Don’t put them on the backburner. Nurture your dreams & follow through.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Are you comfortable with your current direction? Do you need a re-think? Do you have a dream that lights you up?

Love your new site. Is this where you blog now or do you have two blog sites?
Love your five questions. Excuses is key because when we admit to ourselves that they’re simply excuses we can then move beyond them. We tend to fool ourselves with our own BS/excuses. We must see through our own stuff that’s holding us back. Self-honesty is a Must.
