How to use Imagination to wildly enhance your Mid life years

Hi.

Please note: This post is an updated and amended version of one that I produced on 9 July 2013.

Imagination, true Imagination is an art form.

True Artistes imagine beyond their current limits to a place devoid of any barriers, blockages or obstacles.

Some of my readers are already True Artistes and I congratulate you on that. Keep imagining and creating.

However, if You feel that Your life does have room for improvement whether that be 1% or more [or much more], then please read on. For those of you who are content with your lot in life then I’d really still love for you to read on [and give me some of your feedback in the comments below] …….

I’m always imagining and I believe I’m pretty good at it. Yet I sometimes struggle with a  deeper imagination  … a breakthrough that will signal that I have arrived in imagination heaven  …  do You?

There have been times gone by when my mind got caught up and wandered. I began to “wish” that certain things were different to what they either are now or have been.

This kind of thought process was trapping my mind in a state of “what if’s, buts and maybes”.

Wishing  that things were different was a complete waste of my thought processes. I knew this however, the “wishes” used to sneak under my guard now and then.

I went through some fairly significant life changes during my forties. My mother and father both passed away and I changed jobs ….. twice.

For a while there, I couldn’t see the woods from the trees, so to speak. I thought that I was on a path forward however this path [I found out later] went around in a circle to some degree. I learned a lot about life however, I still managed to arrive  in much the same spot in my fifties, as I was a few years earlier.  Imagine how that feels.

Yes, just imagine. This was the impetus for me to do just that. Imagine a better, clearer way forward. Imagine a bigger picture than I had at that time.

Imagining with Intent shakes your thought processes out of it’s slumber and puts those pesky “wishes” in their place.

When you turn your energy into imagining when things are different, rather than just wishing that they were, your thought processes will come alive and kick into overdrive!

And this is what happened. I knew that I could make a difference to others and to myself. I imagined what I saw for my future [immediate and a few years hence] and then took the steps to make it come true.

For those of you in your 40′s, the next 10 years will be the most pivotal of Your life. I can help You make them the most defining. Don’t let them slip away contact Me  today

But before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s dial it back a notch for a moment. For now, let’s just imagine if … things were different.

Moving from “wishing” to “imagining” is a pretty big step. And so is moving from “if” to “when”.Canva design Blog post Imagination

If you aren’t yet ready to engage your overdrive, then I suggest you start with getting the imagining bit right first … then scale it up from  if  to  when  as you gain in confidence.

Imagination is creative. Wishing is just wishing. It’s more fanciful than imagination. Imagination is solid, real. Imagination is power.

Imagination is personal.

Work on your imagination. Get used to it. Get used to it’s feel, it’s personality. Oh yes, your imagination does have personality.

And it’s the personality that will have you graduating from wishing. Imagination has a life force. Wishing is kinda hollow. “Wishing” lacks substance. Intentional imagination sees the bigger picture. It lights up the steps that you need to take.

With practise, You will find this to be an easy transition. Your imagination will become your friend. Your imagination will get you places.

Imagine small to start with, imagine whatever. Just get the imagination feel happening. Then gradually become more specific. More specific with the goals, dreams and people that you want to happen and who you want to be in your life ….. the time for “when” is getting nearer.

Now that this friendship is growing and you are comfortable imagining, you can start to step it up. Your imagination becomes real as the “when” is gradually introduced into your thought processes.  “When” introduces the ‘happening stages’. Your imaginations will begin to take some shape. You will begin to imagine with intent.

However, to cement the shape & the intent, you need to follow through with action.

Follow through on your imaginations. Only by doing this will they fully come to life. If they remain floating around in your head then they likely will disintegrate into fanciful wishes.

Write them down, seek help from a friend, collaborate with a coach/mentor, or go it alone …  just start your action.

So, regardless of your stage of life, you can imagine with vigour, with intent. It is a beautiful thing. However, the real beauty is when you follow through and bring your imaginations to Life!

What are You imagining today for your life? Please feel free to share in the comments and share this post on your favourite Social Media channels.

A Credo for Your Success – 10 Mid life Guide Posts

For those of you in your 40′s, the next 10 years will be the most pivotal of Your life. I can help You make them the most defining. Don’t let them slip away contact Me  today

Hey, fellow Life Lover! Navigating through your 40’s & 50’s can be a difficult task, I know it to be so.

It can also be an exhilarating one and I know this also to be so. And that is what You and I will be concentrating on for the next few minutes at least .. happiness & exhilaration, well mostly at least.

I suggest that to set yourself up for a happy and successful mid life, you need to plan ahead.

And to help with this, set yourself “Guide posts” so that you can benchmark your success as you go along [ see below for the ‘full story’ ].

These can be used as a support mechanism for your overarching Goals and Dreams which will be a part of Your Plans, no doubt [they should be].

I am making the assumption that, You do want to be happy and successful, is that right? If you do, please read on.

Before I get into full swing with this, I’ll digress a little for the moment.

The main thrust of this post is to ensure that you don’t arrive at the end of your mid life years and wonder “where did the time go/what the hell happened/what do I do now?”  I can’t emphasise this enough.

So that’s why I am  introducing You to the “Guide Post” concept.10 mid life guide posts blog post

These  Guide posts  can be your navigational tools and as such, I have concentrated on what I believe are 10 key areas for you to focus on when you enter, or indeed are already in, Your mid life years.

Let’s begin:

Health ..

this is both physical and attitudinal. Get regular checkups from your Physician for your physical wellbeing and establish/maintain a positive attitude to assist you in your mental strength conditioning.

Having this will aid both your physicality and your outlook on life.

There is much to read on physical health and mental well being and I suggest that you do become familiar with the information available from reputable authorities on these two matters.

Family ..

keep them close.

Not overwhelmingly close necessarily but close in your mind, soul and personal interactions.

Give them support, love and care. They in turn will be your ‘cheer squad’ when you need them.

Family is a bond that should remain secure. It’s a bond of strength, encouragement, love and support.

Dreams ..

Picture the end result .. this will guide the creation process.

Begin with the end in mind . Keep it clear, vivid, close enough to touch.

When you have your aimpoint clearly etched in your mind, the steps toward this will have a spring to them.

Each step brings you closer. Feel the excitement grow, Feel the creation begin to form and leap to life.

You must be able to picture your end result otherwise your efforts will begin to fade.

Values ..

Determine what they are. There are processes to determine your true Value.

Speak with a qualified Life Coach who will guide you through the process. Life is much more congruent when you live through your Values.

Any inconsistencies/frustrations with your life right now could be due to a conflict with the Values that you have deep down and the circumstances in which you currently live and act.

Finances ..

just like a health checkup, a finance checkup will bring similar rewards.

Take away the worry and do your best to have your finances in order. And when I mean ” in order”, I’m not talking necessarily about huge amounts of ‘money’ in reserve [thought that would be nice], I am speaking of having a stress free relationship with money/debt and all that goes with that.

Fitness ..

learning continually increases your fitness [of mind]. Sameness creates staleness.

Formerly fit minds then become ‘fat’ minds. Keep your mind in trim with imaginative thinking & continuing a thirst for more knowing.

Strength of mind via a positive willpower & strong determination will see that the best is yet to come for You.  Never tell me that “I am too old for this”. Excusing yourself from life is not where I want to see you at.

Goals ..

set the types of goals that will give you the greatest benefit and meaning.

Goals that will add value to your life. Start small if necessary then build into bigger, more rewarding ones.

There’s much written about goals and if you find yourself struggling with their achievement, contact someone who specialises in that.

Excitement ..

also assists with good health. Being excited about each and every day goes a long way to adding depth as well as longevity to your life.

Excitement is a  feeling  and a state of mind. When you are excited, fresh possibilities, new thoughts and positive actions blend seamlessly.

Excitement is contagious. Not only will it embrace you, others close to you will be caught up in your enthusiasm for all that is [mid]life.

Priorities ..

Different changes in direction resulting from different choices along the way and the odd unplanned detour will play a part.

If you have a Mentor, a Map or Plan will cement that relationship.

It will overview your whole scene and provide you with the comfort and overarching strategy that your life adventure is on track. Where do You want your adventure to finish? or do you want it to finish?

Creativity ..

Creativity is not a spits and spurts type of thing .. though you will have your ‘off’ days.

You may have bursts of creativity and then flat spots [me, I’m still working on this] .. try to be consistent with your ‘creative flow’.

Put aside an amount of time most days, to focus solely on creative thinking, creative pursuits.

Add to your canvas, fill in some blank spots on your ”picture”. Bit by bit, the picture will come together. Consistency is key and so is persistence and determination.

I hope that you can find some value in this. Let me know your thoughts … and a share on your favourite Social Media channels will be appreciated.

Life beyond 40 – 5 tips to add more Purpose to your life

In 2015 ….. Walk with Me. Exercise your mind with Me. Get stronger with Me. That’s what will happen when you Work with MePlease join with Me in meaningful conversation right here …..

Hi again.

Today, I am speaking from  a standpoint of experience and truth [as always, of course]

I’m on a bit of a midlife run at the moment. Because I enjoy it.

Because I live it. And because I want You, fellow Mid lifer, to enjoy yours as well.

Last week I wrote about 5 ‘must have’s’  to thrive in your midlife years.

This week, I want to give you more hope and more inspiration for having a great adventure beyond the age of 40.

Up until your 40th year, you have been practising for what lies ahead.

You have been honing skills preparing you to enter an adventure like you’ve never experienced before. [You may not realise this but believe me, you have]. You are just getting started!

Life expectancy is continually expanding. I don’t have the exact facts but @ 40 you are only around half way “there” [on average].

So as I see it, if you are currently around the 40 mark [or beyond], it makes perfect sense that you take the steps to look after your body and your mind so that you extract every ounce of life out of your remaining 40 years or so.

There’s no “letting yourself go”, life is too precious for that.

You don’t need to exercise or have a diet like an olympic athlete, however be sensible about it, You have years of improvement left in you.

I’ve found since I turned 40, that I have gotten stronger and fitter than I was pre 40.

I may be stretching the truth a little with the fitness side, as I was a far better runner in my 40’s than now, however I have maintained a consistent fitness schedule. Because it’s Fun to do so.Life beyond 40 Blog Post

It’s a challenge.

Not a problem challenge but an engaging one and I am still seeing the benefits … and so can You.

I mentioned earlier about practising life before 40.

After 40 is the time for You to unlock and tap into your potential. Stretch yourself like a rubber band.

Experience. Enjoy. Embrace. Strive. Take action.

Yes you can and You must “Enjoy”. Enjoy the challenge to improve yourself, while at the same time you are discovering more about your capabilities.

See how much of your potential can be brought to the surface. Picture the result[s] in your mind. [Even as I’m writing this, I am thinking of fresh ideas that I can explore which will allow me to expand.]

When you have the picture in your mind you can then act upon it and bring it to life.

You need to challenge yourself to bring out your best both physically and mentally.

Engage with your inner guru. Don’t just accept “what is”. Ask yourself “what if” and go get it! … by doing it!

You are capable of this.

1. Set 5 year Plans

As loose or as detailed as you want. Use them as ‘markers’ as you progress through the years. Call them ‘stop off’ points if you like.

You can then look back [briefly] and see if you are on track, how far you have come, make any necessary adjustments.

2. Never worry about getting old[er].

You are meant to. Simply be grateful for the opportunity, as sadly, many don’t make it.

Age like a fine wine. Mellow a little but don’t “fall asleep at the wheel”, there’s still the spark to be kept lit.

3. Find your Purpose or what will ensure that your life is purposeful [for You]

What sparks you up? what are you really passionate about?

What excites You? What do you enjoy doing every day?

Nail this down then keep it going.

4. Know in your mind that the next day will be even better than today.

It’s a mental thing AND it’s powerful.

Believe that you will keep going and that there is no end. Which means that you have another day to look forward to … and another.

This strategy keeps me mentally alert … I am only thinking about living now and getting better day by day.

5. Refuse to let your ‘music’ die.

Your creativity, your imagination, your dreams. Keep the spark alive.

You had them in your earlier years. You bring them alive in your mid life years AND you create more dreams as you progress along.

Your creativity doesn’t stop. If it does then You stop.

All those dreams and imaginings can’t lay dormant. They are your music. Bring them out. Play your best tune.

Please share your thoughts in the comments below and also on your favourite social media channels.

How to Create your best Mid life with these 5 ‘must haves’

There is a difference between surviving your Mid life years and thriving in your Mid life years. I have previously used the term ‘thrival’.

And it’s a term that I will use again here.

Thrival occurs when the struggle in your life [to survive] meets with the opportunity to thrive. The opportunity arrives when you are sparked into realising, that your life can be full and satisfied & better than it is now, when you take the action to make it so … A fresh door has now been cast open for You to gallop through.

Life no longer simply happens to You … You are now creating the happenings.

For your creativity to reach it’s zenith, I suggest that the following 5 items must appear on your “resume”.

Sense of humour.

For me, seeing the amusing side of things breaks any staleness. It livens my senses, helps me relax and not take myself or life, too seriously. When you are tense, you cannot create anything effectively or life inspiring [though you are open to creating chaos]. Relax, use your sense of humour to calm. It doesn’t mean that you are cracking jokes all day long, but you will be able to soften any downside effects that may be thrown your way.Create your best Mid life Blog post

Imaginative curiosity.

Bringing a few “what if’s” to the table will render ajar  more doors. The tunnel of sameness will never be the same again. “What if” I tried this for once?” “What if I did that differently to normal?” There are a multitude of “what if’s” that You can introduce, I’m sure. Stir your curiosity. Wonder a little more. Take nothing for granted.  Throw ‘boring’ out of the window by imagining different scenarios for your life. If you want change, then imagine that it can happen, then follow through with action … because it can happen!

Just for fun [and for my curiosity] ….. Why not throw me a few ‘what if’s’ in the comments below?

Keeping your curiosity on edge … will give you the edge. Imagining more … will give you more. The well will never run dry.

Learning optimism.

I am a life long learner. I learn new stuff every day. Some of it small, but it’s learning nonetheless. And it’s a habit … a good habit. When you are optimistic that you will learn, your life becomes more exciting. Learning stimulates your senses & sharpens your mind. Create something New, today. Very little stays the same. Learn. Adapt. Thrive.

Fit mind, strong will.

As above, learning continually increases your fitness [of mind].

Creative intent.

You can probably see by now that much of this is leading to your ability to create. Create your best Art, your best life. As I said earlier, You can now create the happenings in your life rather than life happening to you.

When it is your intent to create what you want, harness the strength of the previous 4 points. Combine them into your personal creative force ….. and life will be good.

I’d love to hear your comments and will appreciate your sharing on your favourite social media channels.

Moving from Oh No to Oh Yes! … 8 Midlife Yes stories

Fellow Midlifer, are you frustrated with how Your life is panning out? Are you lacking certainty about your future, struggling for Purpose, perhaps down on inspiration? Then get in touch with me right away I will help you to be more assured, achieve what you want & create the better days that you deserve. The right Solutions & Support are life changing, as well as adding tremendous Value … and you do like value, don’t you?

========================================================================

Are you moving toward or recently reached the magic 40+? “Oh No” you may be thinking or saying out loud. “Where has my life disappeared?”

Why do this, when you should be exclaiming …”Oh Yes!” … My Life has so much more to reveal to me AND Me to reveal to the world.

Getting to the magic 40+ is an achievement. However the previous years have simply been practise for the excitement that lays ahead.

Here are a few “Oh Yes”! stories that you can tell to yourself. Read them often and they will ring true for You … if you let them.

Oh Yes! … my dreams are coming alive. I have worked at this for quite a while now. The steps that I have taken have accumulated and they have been worth it. Keep stepping, I say! Each step is a treasure all of it’s own.

Oh Yes! … my strengths are showing. Years of fine tuning, listening, learning are now paying dividends .. Big time. The ability to keep stepping has given me consistency of stride and of Purpose.

Oh Yes! … my knowledge is growing. Some may even call it “Wisdom”. The knowing of right from wrong. The knowing what is right for me. Knowledge that I can share to allow others to grow. What’s the point of knowing when you can’t share what you know?

Oh Yes! … my appreciation of life spurs me on to greater achievement. Life and it’s magic become more apparent each day.

Oh Yes! … more goals to achieve, bigger mountains to climb. Bigger boots needed, I think. I’ve worn out a few….. the excitement of recent goal achievement has me hungry for more.

Oh Yes! … my children look up to me .. and their children. I impart my wisdom [to those who will listen]. I support and encourage them. I can ‘Pass the baton’ when it’s time, knowing that it’s in good hands.

Oh Yes! … my Love for Life grows and grows. The people, the situations, the serendipities. Nothing more to be said there …Midlife3

Oh Yes! … I can soon relax after all my efforts have borne me the sweet fruit to savour. Can I? Maybe just slow down a little. Afterall, the love of Life and all it’s offerings does take a piece of my energy through all the excitement … energy that I gladly give.

I am hoping that your or soon to be Midlife has plenty of “Oh Yes”! stories to be told.

You may wish to share some in the comments below, please do.

5 Success Benchmarks for Mid Lifers [in my own words]

Fellow Midlifer, are you frustrated with how Your life is panning out? Are you lacking certainty about your future, struggling for Purpose, perhaps down on inspiration? Then get in touch with me right away… I will help you with practical solutions, so that you CAN be more assured, achieve what you want & create the better days that you deserve. The right Solutions & Support are life changing, as well as adding tremendous Value … and you do like value, don’t you? …  So stop sinking and start swimming, Today!

——————————————————————————————————————————————-

The definition of “Success” will vary from person to person. And it will likely vary depending on the stage of life that you are currently in.

The years between 40 and say 65 are often reflective of our level of “personal success”.

When you enter your forties,  you are either building on what you created in earlier years or looking to create something [entirely] different.

Either way, your questioning thoughts may look something like this :

New horizons … how wide and far am I prepared to go?

Legacies to be left … what will I be remembered for? … by my family, my friends, my acquaintances

Personal achievements … what will make me proud?

Family …. how will I continue to care for them? What will they think of me?

Future retirement … will I be safe?

Purpose … what purposeful initiatives/actions will fulfill me? … and will they provide for myself and my loved ones?

And if you are venturing, or considering to venture, into ‘something new’ for your life, then some of the questions listed above, will have an exclamation! mark attached as well.

And it’s the exclamation! that excites you as well as fears you. Take a risk, be Bold … I hear your inner voice whisper.

Which leads me to the benchmarks+++++++++++

Risk taking a step or staying put  sameness is debilitating especially when you are ‘stuck’. You are often ‘stuck’ because you can’t get yourself to take a step “beyond” because you are afraid of what might happen. The “fear” outweighs any “reward” in your eyes. Pity. Taking a step doesn’t have to be lonely. You can seek help from someone who will step with you … guide you along the path that you desire.

Think Beyond … your thinking can be contained [or trapped] within a box … a box where the key has been lost. So your thoughts are restricted, they have boundaries. And when you send them out, looking for solutions, they bounce off the walls of this box and return to you as an echo … again & again. Thinking beyond will start to crack the walls of this “box” and penetrate into wider spaces. Solutions will become more abundant and your thoughts more vibrant!

Have a back up plan … Plan B is essential. All your effort goes toward your “something”. If that doesn’t work then what happens? You are a 40 something, you have a lot ahead of you. And a lot to excite you. Plan A may not work first time, Plan B can be a revisitation of Plan A. What I’m really trying to reinforce is this … don’t have the Big Master plan without any fallback. The ‘Master Plan’ may not be a step by step directory of how your life “will” be. It may be your major dreams, goals or aspirations or even being in the Big flow of Life.

Remember, things don’t always go to plan, so never give up ... that’s the bottom line here.  If your plan[whatever that is for you] is big enough, then it deserves to be seen through. Untitled15

The only ‘Safety’ is knowing your next step … Standing still is rarely a good option. As with my first point, knowing that you can take a step [with help if necessary], moves you from possible “stuck” to probable opportunity. There is little that is guaranteed in life. When things go awry, you need to step with surety to a place with more possibilities and go forward capabilities. Instead of hoisting the white flag of surrender, step away to your next safe haven.

Love what you do, Love who you are … a “no brainer” really. You can’t love everything that you do. However you can make a mighty attempt. When the love is there, the right flow of things follows.

To illustrate my point, flip this around. When you hate what you do, how does this make you feel? Apart from miserable that is. You are stuck in muck. There appears no way out. And that’s a poor position to find yourself in.

Find something that you love, that you are good at and everything will blossom.  Simple? … not always. However, if you can’t move from your current “job” for whatever reason, look to re-frame it. Change your angle of perception. Drill down a bit for there may be aspects of your “job”, with a little polish, you can learn to love. Work on this, find the benefits. You’ve got to find some love here otherwise …………

And finally, “Love who you are”. Many have written on this subject, many who are better versed than I.

I have found that there is definite merit in loving who you are … it simply makes sense. The earlier you find this out the better. Because then you have the time to polish yourself and flourish into the Diamond that you are meant to be.

And we are all Diamonds, some just have different cuts.

If you love this enough, feel free to share on your favourite social media & say a few words below.

What do you want your life to be like @50?

Fellow Midlifer, are you frustrated with how Your life is panning out? Are you lacking certainty about your future, struggling for Purpose, perhaps down on inspiration? Then get in touch with me right away… I will help you with practical solutions, so that you CAN be more assured, achieve what you want & create the better days that you deserve. The right Solutions & Support are life changing, as well as adding tremendous Value … and you do like value, don’t you? …  So stop sinking and start swimming, Today!

——————————————————————————————————————————————————

Hmmm 50. Magic number, magic age. [I remember it well].

You may be thinking … “not me”, “too far away to care”. Let me tell you a little secret my 30 something/40 something friend, it’s not that far away.

So, what do you think that your life will feel like @50? It’s worth considering as you travel toward this ‘marker’. Don’t let it distract you from your current joys in life however a little foresight doesn’t go astray, does it? … even if only fleeting.

Have I got your attention?

Whether you like it or not, the calendar of life moves on.  I suggest that You certainly need to embrace each day[regardless of how it is turning out], week, month and year as you move through life … and also have one eye on the future [or at least a squint].Blog21

Yes, the future. Not to put too fine a point on this, the future is tomorrow and the tomorrow after that … and so on … until you reach the numbers that scare you [I’ve found that it’s not that bad, really].

I’ve picked the age of 50 simply as an illustration that your “numbers will go up”. I could easily have picked 40, 45, 55, 60 or anything similar.

However, I want to focus on  you, sitting pretty in your late 30’s or early 40’s and ask You the question … “What do you want your life to be like @50?”

Will it be different to now?  Do you want it to be? Will sameness rule your life? What aspirations do you have? Are there more goals to be kicked or dreams to play out? Do you want your finances to be in order? A bigger house maybe? … Sports car? New job? Keep the job that you are in? Maintain the house that you have?

Essentially, are you wanting Clarity and Certainty in the years ahead?

Worth thinking about, don’t you think?

Maybe Yes or maybe No, it’s up to you. However if it’s a “Yes”, then any changes that you want to be in place @50, or before,  start working on them Now. Small changes  are OK.

Build on them so that when you hit 50 there are no nasty surprises! You see, your life is always starting ‘Now’.

Change doesn’t wait.

If you love this enough and/or you have friends in their late 30’s  or early 40’s, please share via yours and their favourite social media channels.

5 Goals for creating a better Life beyond 40

Are you frustrated with how your Life is going? Get in touch with me right away… I will help you with fresh, practical solutions, so that you CAN break down walls and achieve your Goals & Dreams & create better days … because that’s what I do. Remember, the right Coaching & Support adds tremendous Value to your life … and you do like value, don’t you?

=======================================================================

Wow! You’ve just hit the magic 40 … 45 … 50 … 55 … 60. What happens next? Here’s 5  (perhaps different) ideas to get you galloping through the rest of your life …..

Have a Crack!

What?! ….. What have you got to lose? Have a go at something that would ordinarily seem out of reach. Stretching beyond the horizon stretches your capabilities. You know, the ones that you have and that you know about. Also  the ones that you have … and that you don’t know about. These are the ones that lay in wait  ready for you to activate. Now comes the time to fully explore your capabilities. Learn more about yourself. No time to have an idle mind, there’s life to be lived. Have a crack instead!

Don’t listen to others … unless you are Asking for help.

Steer your own course. Beware of ‘expert commentary’ from the sidelines. When you lack direction, others will gladly direct you to a destination of their choosing. To live life on your  terms you will need to minimise distractions. Plot your own adventure, take others with you if you like however stay in charge of your direction. The master of the ship, so to speak. If you run into difficulty, know who to turn to for the right help.

What will really make you excited!

Whoah, yes excitement is included in your life (still). Remember the days? Plan wild if you have to. Though don’t forget the little things that can also get you going. No more mundane, banish the sameness, your direction is now more excitement oriented (and why not?). Even adding a tinge of excitement to the more boring of tasks (be creative here), will make your days a pleasure rather than a drag. I guarantee that it’s a great way to give you maximum opportunity to prolong your life as well … and that’s got to be good.

There is no tomorrow … ramp it up today.Blog16

That’s right, there are no guarantees of tomorrows. No ‘one day, ‘some day’ … they have arrived “today”.

Plan. Execute.

Procrastination can be an ugly beast. How many times do you put things off? You know, important things. Things that will make a major, positive difference in your life. Plan them today, then execute them, put them in place. Don’t tell your loved ones later … “I should have done that earlier”. Get cracking NOW!

Others actually care … let them in.

Island status is reserved for countries like Iceland & Australia …  not  for You. When your head is down either in work or self pity, it is easy to ignore others and isolate yourself. When you let others (back) into your life you are actually nourishing yourself. Feed yourself with the care & love of others and the goals will start to look more achievable and the obstacles & doubts less of a disruption.

Have you tried any of these? Do you think they may work for You? I welcome your thoughts.  Please share on your favourite Social Media sites.

=======================================================================

I didn’t think of the term ‘Mid Life’ at the age of 40. I gave it scant regard at age 45.

It wasn’t until I turned 50, that  I started to embrace the term ‘Mid Life’. It sort of grew on me and I accepted that the calendar of life was moving on.

Now, depending on the source, the ages that Mid Life encompasses, does vary. I noted that one particular “study” determined Mid Life to be from age 40 to age 67.

67 suits me fine, I don’t want any ‘old age’ tag before my time is due.

At the end of the day it doesn’t really matter what “category” you consider yourself to be in or indeed when Mid Life starts for you.  I don’t particularly like being categorised and you might not either. You can be  young at heart  for your whole life ….. age is only a number, not a determination of who you are or should be.

Let’s just look at the years 40 – 67. For the purposes of this post we will call them The Mid Life Years … and that’s a pretty fair & mostly obvious description.  These  27 years, regardless of “Age tag” form a critical and vital part of your life.

I wrote a post a little while back “40 – 60 an age when everything matters ” ….. where I detailed a number of important points to consider for your Mid Life years. You may like to revisit this post as it adds to the one you are currently reading.

Mid life can be a transition period, in fact it is.  Your first 40 years is spent building, Mid life then consolidates  … so that you can enjoy the “later years”. That’s how the story is supposed to go, right?

However your Mid life can also be a fresh start, in fact it is becoming more so … and I have found that to be exciting!

Thoughts33

If you look at life through the traditional lense, the stages of life have simply followed each other .. Child > Adult> Midlife > Old age ….. Boring.

Is there anything to say that your Mid Life story cannot have the “child/adult” mix as well?

The enthusiasm for learning, playing, building, creating are still there for you, if you want it.  Because you hit the Mid life years doesn’t mean that you can’t have a fresh start. And we are seeing that a lot these days. Careers are being knee capped for many, meaning that a fresh start is becoming compulsory.

Time to ….. Listen. Question. Create.

If you are in need of a fresh start whether by choice or not, then …..

This is a time to listen to your inner voice [you may as well]. This is a time to question what has gone before and whether that continues or whether a new path is to be trodden. This is a time to create Art that you can be proud to display. Art that will define you. Art that will be talked about by others. This is a time of embracing what your life can give you. Why the hell not?

This may well be the “start” that you have been looking for. A Fresh canvas. Draw on your skills, discover new ones. Push the boundaries. Explore your Imagination.

Sound a bit “woo woo”? I hope not. It’s really practical when you think about it. I’m not suggesting that you do anything that you are not capable of. In fact, I am suggesting that you are capable of … starting again, pushing your boundaries, exploring your Imagination and utilising your skills in a different way … and discovering new skills.Thoughts12

This is a Mid Life story with a difference. This is the new Mid Life. This can be your story if your current one is not reading right. Even if things are rosy right now (and that’s great), you can be (re) assured that you can still add new volumes to your current story, if you want.

In Summary, Mid Life can open up many new possibilities, if you work at it. On top of what I have already mentioned, if I could select 3 takeaway “ideals” for you to consider, it would be these …..

* Set the goals that matter for You

* get your priorities in the right order, time is not infinite

* develop or polish your end game … know what it is, know where you are heading

Can these suggestions help you in your MidLife? Are you having trouble “coming to grips” with your MidLife years? Let me know what you think in the comments below and/or contact me if you would like some help. I’d appreciate you sharing this content with those who you feel will benefit.

Two, just Two must have Mid Life “Happy” Goals

Are you frustrated with how your Life is going? Get in touch with me right away… I will help you with fresh, practical solutions, so that you CAN break down walls and achieve your Goals & Dreams & create better days … because that’s what I do. Remember, the right Coaching & Support adds tremendous Value to your life … and you do like value, don’t you?

=======================================================================

Hello fellow Mid Lifer. You no doubt have set and (hopefully) achieved many goals during your life so far.

Regardless of age, you have the ability to aim higher and raise your bar,  OR simply set it at whatever level makes you happy. And this is the key to today’s posting for You ….. ‘whatever level makes You happy‘.

Doing this keeps the blood pumping through your veins and the excitement that being Happy gives you … its a legal hit, right?!

I challenge you to keep that going.

To get you into this “state”, if you’re not already there, I’m suggesting that you set specific “Happy” Goals? These goals will be distinctive from your other goals, dreams, objectives. Nothing too complicated (that’s for others to concern themselves with), just a couple of simple, feel good goals.

In fact these goals can be a realisation and extension of some, or perhaps many, of your previous goal triumphs. These I call ‘personal reward goals’. Being Happy is a personal reward, don’t you think? Why not consider something like these two?

Have an ongoing Happiness Goal … one that is flexible, adaptable, collectable, unmistakeable, unmissable.

Today, certain things will make you happy …  Sunshiny day, the train arrived on time, your favourite team won, You kicked a Big goal, you made a massive sale and so on. What if you can translate that to an ongoing objective? Because some days those things that made you happy “today”, won’t be there.  You need a replacement.  You have to have your ‘happy hit’.

This sounds Huge, I guess you’re thinking. How can I be happy every day? …  You can have something to be happy about every day though. Something to offset the times when the crap comes home to roost … and it will.

Your mission is this, if you choose to accept it (remember that line from years ago?) ….. draw on your years of happy results, happy achievements and map out your ‘Happy Plan/Goal’. If you haven’t had any (I’m sorry) then plan it out as you Imagine it will be. Translate the ‘feeling’ that you had then,  into a blueprint for future (starting tomorrow) happy times.

Now, what has made you happy with past successes may change (and probably will) in the future. So part of this process will be integrating your happiness barometer into and in conjunction with, your future goals, dreams and vision for your life.

‘Set yourself Free’ goalBlog7

Now more than ever, it’s the time to be Free. Free of the hassles, comparisons, struggles to establish yourself, the guilt, the restrictions, the rules. If you have obstacles, distractions or anything that is anchoring you in the land of doubt … then wouldn’t it be great to be Free of all of this?

Maybe this sounds all too good to be true? Maybe not. Let’s (again) be practical here for a bit. I am not suggesting that your Midlife will suddenly become some type of woo woo place of enlightenment. However, if you remember my words from earlier ‘whatever level makes You happy’ … then that’s what I am aiming at for You. You decide what achievements/goals/dreams … will make you happy. And then you set a goal/action plan which will help you on the path to be free (and Happy).

My only condition:  That you do something about it.

Are you up for it, fellow MidLifer? Please feel free to share if you like this and/or your comments below will be welcome, as usual.

Be good to yourself
